Erik T. Potter, Esq.
Erik Potter is the founding partner of Potter MacLellan LLP and a graduate of Boston College, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy. Mr. Potter earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in 2005. In addition to being a licensed attorney he is a licensed real estate broker.
Mr. Potter has been involved with real estate-related transactions since 2000. Mr. Potter began his real estate career while finishing his undergraduate studies at Boston College. During this time, he was a licensed real estate agent primarily focusing on real estate rentals, office management and client development. Throughout the past fifteen years, Mr. Potter has acted as a real estate rental agent; a real estate broker for purchase and sale transactions; a property manager for multi-family and distressed properties, as well as large apartment complexes; and, most notably, as a practicing real estate attorney.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Potter accepted a position with the highly-regarded Boston real estate law firm of Gilmartin, Magence & Ross, located in downtown Boston. In 2011, Mr. Potter started his own private practice, and continued to maintain that successful practice, in Cohasset, Massachusetts, until forming Potter MacLellan LLP.
As an attorney, Mr. Potter has focused his practice on transactional real estate and the representation of private real estate investors. In his representation of private lenders, he has acted as the closing attorney for privately financed transactions that are collectively valued at over fifty million dollars.
Mr. Potter grew up in Newport, Rhode Island and he and his family presently reside in Cohasset, Massachusetts where he is a Member of the Town of Cohasset Planning Board and serves on the Board of Directors for the South Shore Art Center.
Craig J. MacLellan, Esq.
Craig MacLellan is a graduate of Boston College High School and Providence College. After graduating from Providence College, Mr. MacLellan attended Suffolk University Law School and was awarded his Juris Doctor. Mr. MacLellan is a licensed Massachusetts attorney and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for Massachusetts.
Craig has twenty years of diverse legal experience. Throughout his career, Craig has served as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County, an investigating staff attorney at the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct, a litigation associate at a Boston law firm, and the litigation manager for his own small law practice. Craig understands how stressful it can be to be involved in any legal dispute and, for this reason, Craig places an emphasis on realizing swift, favorable resolutions for his clients.
Craig has represented, advocated on behalf of, and interacted with thousands of different clients and individuals, each with very different life experiences, backgrounds, and legal needs.

Criminal Defense
From the beginning of his career, Craig has maintained a close connection with the criminal justice system in Massachusetts. Craig has worked on both sides of the courtroom, serving as either prosecutor or defense counsel in thousands of criminal matters involving nearly every type of criminal offense. These contrasting experiences have helped Craig bring a well-rounded perspective to his practice and he has realized great success in securing fair and favorable dispositions for his clients.
Business Law and Litigation
Craig serves as local counsel for numerous small and mid-sized businesses in a variety of industries. Craig’s practice includes internal and third-party contract negotiations, personnel and employment issues, consumer complaints, and litigation. Craig offers competitive fees that allow smaller business to realize tremendous value and still receive excellent service.
Civil Litigation
Craig also assists individual clients with personal legal needs and disputes. These can include matters such as property disputes, contractor disputes, abuse prevention orders, employment disputes, discrimination matters, and consumer protection disputes.
Public Service
Craig is a dedicated public servant who has faithfully served his home community of Cohasset, Massachusetts for several years. Most prominently, Craig has served on the Cohasset School Committee for six years, a position that allows him to have a direct impact on the education of his community’s next generation and which brings him great joy. Craig has served on other various town committees and also organizes Cohasset’s Independence Day celebration.
Personally, Craig is a married father of two who loves to coach soccer, enjoy nights around the firepit, and travel to America’s national parks with his family.
